停車離開前的一分鐘：車匙、門窗與可見財物的防盜檢查

A pre-parking-exit check: keys, windows, locks and visible valuables
NHTSA's vehicle-theft guidance recommends taking the key with you, closing and locking windows and doors, choosing a well-lit place where possible, and keeping valuables out of the vehicle. Turning these into a short routine is useful even when you expect to be away only briefly. One security device should not replace the basic checks.
The agency distinguishes alarms or visible deterrents, immobilizers and vehicle-recovery systems. They have different purposes, and none is presented here as a guarantee against theft. Keep the plate number, vehicle description and VIN in a secure place outside the car so they are available if needed.
