California residential fire or earthquake mediation: complete the CDI complaint step first
CDI’s residential fire and earthquake claims mediation applies to relevant losses under a governor-declared state of emergency. The official thresholds are a claim exceeding $7,500 and a disputed amount exceeding $2,000. Commercial and liability policies are excluded, with additional limits for matters such as policy interpretation or existing civil litigation.
The ordinary CDI complaint process comes first. An unresolved, eligible dispute can then proceed to mediation. The neutral mediator helps negotiate but cannot impose settlement. Call 800-927-4357 and prepare the policy, correspondence, photographs and itemized estimates. Failure to attend without good cause can result in costs.
