New York ACCES-VR: start with a signed application and employment needs
ACCES-VR serves people whose disabilities create barriers to obtaining, keeping or returning to employment. Applicants or referrals must be at least fourteen and willing to participate in vocational rehabilitation. An orientation is useful but not required.
The application must be signed, with an appropriate parent or guardian signature for minors or people under guardianship. Existing medical, SSI/SSDI, IEP or 504 records can support assessment; ask about help obtaining evidence with written consent if it is unavailable. Eligibility does not guarantee a particular course or financial award. Services must support the individual employment plan.
