Exploring Fresno Unified’s Hmong language pathway
Fresno Unified's Hmong language pathway includes elementary dual-language immersion and heritage-language courses at higher grades. It is not an after-school tutoring service. The district describes an elementary model aiming for equal use of Hmong and English, with literacy in both languages beginning in kindergarten and connections to family and culture.
The official list includes Vang Pao Elementary, Balderas Elementary and Sequoia Middle School, serving different grades. Contact Thae Xiong at 559-457-3621 or Thae.Xiong@fresnounified.org. Ask how your child's grade, language background, address and transfer arrangements affect an application. Speaking Hmong at home does not establish that a place is available.
