Contesting a Los Angeles parking citation: the initial-review step
LADOT's initial review is the first formal step when disputing a parking citation issued by the City of Los Angeles. Its guidance gives a deadline of 21 calendar days from issuance, or 14 calendar days from the date on the first delinquent notice. This entry is not for another city's ticket or a moving violation.
Payment is not required for the initial review. Use the official online entry or contact 866-561-9742 for the available process. Organize the citation, a clear explanation and supporting documents, and check the mailing address. Submitting a request does not itself cancel the citation.
Once a decision is issued, a second initial review of that citation is not available. Read the decision and the administrative-hearing requirements if you still disagree. Keep confirmations and written notices; this guide does not decide the merits or promise dismissal.
