Before choosing an EV: check parking, charging compatibility and rates
The California Air Resources Board's Drive Clean guide distinguishes ordinary-outlet charging, higher-power home or public charging, and DC fast charging. Before choosing a vehicle, note your usual daily distance and parking time, then check which charging methods the model supports. Charging duration depends on the vehicle and equipment, so one example cannot be applied to every car.
If you cannot install equipment where you live, examine public charging options near home and along regular routes. Check connectors, compatible adapters and the operator's current price separately. Drive Clean advises using vehicle-specific, manufacturer-approved adapters. For home equipment, confirm electrical requirements, installation and permit costs as well. This guide does not treat illustrative website prices as a quote or assume that a particular incentive still has funding.
