UC Riverside Korean minor: planning study and language placement
UC Riverside’s Korean minor combines Korean language with literature, culture and society. Its official requirements include proficiency through KOR 005, eight lower-division literature and culture units, and 16 upper-division units. The upper-division component comprises four Korean-language units, eight Korean literature and culture units, and four Asian literature and culture units. Confirm course choices and fulfillment of minor requirements with an academic adviser.
The department’s placement guide directs students beginning Korean enrollment to complete a preliminary survey. They then receive an email either approving enrollment in Language 001 or requiring a placement examination, with further instructions. The survey linked by the official guide is https://chassintranet.ucr.edu/pta .
Korean placement examinations are described as available in late summer, the first week of each quarter and during the year. Confirm actual scheduling with the coordinator. Placement questions can go to iszet002@ucr.edu; general language-study questions can go to Gerardo.Sanchez@ucr.edu.
