Hayward Library of Things: four-week loans, no holds and desk returns
Hayward Public Library’s Library of Things offers an alternative to buying equipment needed only occasionally. Its collection lists electronics repair tools, telescopes, ukuleles and board games. Check the catalog and ask staff about availability; a listed item is not a stock guarantee.
Browse near the C Street entrance in the Downtown Library lobby, then take a checkout slip to the circulation desk. Most items have four-week loans with no holds or renewals. Each cardholder may borrow one item of each type, with up to three board games. Chromebooks follow separate Tech Lending Library rules rather than the general four-week policy.
Return items to the front desk, not a book drop. Staff count components, and missing or damaged items may incur replacement charges. The Downtown Library is at 888 C Street; call 510-293-8685 to confirm hours and card requirements. This is a public lending-service guide, not an advertisement for goods being sold.
