NewsNation’s Ali Bradley reports on drone restrictions near the U.S.–Mexico border. The measure announced by the FAA on October 16 covers unauthorized drone activity within one nautical mile north of the border, from the surface to 400 feet above ground, to reduce risks to border security operations and federal personnel. It is not a blanket ban on all piloted aircraft.
NewsNation published its official video at 20:13 UTC on October 21, 2026; the measure was not first announced that day. Drone operators should check applicable FAA notices and restrictions before flying.
