Tamu Pariwar New York: using the Gurung living glossary at home
Tamu Pariwar New York serves Gurung (Tamu) families in the New York metropolitan area. Its growing Gurung glossary organizes words into kinship and identity, numbers, time, food, body parts and common pronouns. Families can choose a few everyday terms to explore together; the official numbers PDF was reachable during this check.
The organization uses Devanagari or Romanized transliterations and warns that spelling may not capture native pronunciation, with regional differences in vocabulary. Check words with relatives familiar with the family’s dialect rather than treating one transliteration as universal. Gurung and Nepali should not be conflated.
