RECA radiation-exposure compensation: choose the claim category and document residence, work and diagnosis
DOJ’s RECA program compensates eligible people or survivors who meet specified nuclear-program exposure, location or employment-period, and disease requirements. Categories include downwinders, onsite test participants, uranium workers and Manhattan Project waste claims; their geographic, timing and medical criteria differ.
Use the official RECA Claim Portal or the correct mailed form. Prepare residence, employment or participation evidence, diagnosis records and identification. Electronic applicants may upload scans of original or certified records but can later be asked to mail them for verification. The current official filing deadline is December 31, 2027. Call 800-729-7327 with questions. Do not send standalone evidence without a complete claim or an active claim number.
