Camp Lejeune family medical reimbursement: verify residence and family status, then retain insurance statements
VA provides medical-cost reimbursement for eligible family members of veterans associated with Camp Lejeune or MCAS New River. Criteria include a qualifying family relationship and at least 30 total days of residence between August 1, 1953 and December 31, 1987; time in utero while the mother lived there can also qualify. An application and approval are required, not merely residence nearby.
CLFMP covers treatment related to 15 conditions specified by law and is the payer of last resort. Bill other health insurance first and retain its Explanation of Benefits before requesting reimbursement of remaining eligible costs. Call 866-372-1144 about documents and applications. This process is distinct from ordinary disability compensation and Camp Lejeune litigation.
