Angel Island: ferry tickets, barracks admission and the free immigration museum
Reach Angel Island by ferry from San Francisco’s Ferry Building or Tiburon; check schedules and fares with the operator. Ferry tickets include state-park entry, but Ayala Cove is still about 1.2 miles from the immigration station. The shortcut has 140 steps; the road adds approximately 15–20 minutes.
Adult Detention Barracks admission is $5 self-guided or $7 guided. The separate Angel Island Immigration Museum, in the former hospital, is free. Check museum hours, return sailings and accessibility before travelling. State-park enquiries:415-435-5537; foundation exhibitions and programs:415-658-7691.
