College of the Desert
College of the Desert

College of the Desert adult basic education: distinguish online study and diploma goals
College of the Desert's 2026–2027 catalog describes Adult Basic Education, covering reading, writing, mathematics, high-school completion and GED preparation. These are noncredit routes. Explain whether your goal is foundational skills, a diploma or exam preparation before treating the different certificates as interchangeable outcomes.
The current catalog describes tuition-free online ABE classes with self-paced work and open-entry/open-exit arrangements, allowing enrollment during the term. Students still complete the English or Spanish Noncredit Admission Application and confirm the actual class and login process; flexible entry does not waive registration.
Contact the noncredit admissions office in South Annex Room 15 on the Palm Desert campus at 760-776-7348 or abepd@collegeofthedesert.edu. Educational-planning counseling is available at 760-862-1336. Tuition-free instruction does not guarantee that personal equipment, internet access or outside examination charges are all covered. Completing preparation courses also does not automatically mean passing the GED examination or receiving a high-school diploma. Confirm the requirements for the credential you actually want.
