Sonoma one-to-one adult learning partners: assessment comes before a possible wait
Sonoma County Library's free one-to-one adult learning-partner program asks potential learners to contact it themselves at 707-544-2622 or literacy@sonomalibrary.org. Staff discuss goals and arrange assessment; a relative's inquiry is not an immediate tutor assignment.
The published criteria include being over eighteen, with suitability assessed against reading, writing and English-language needs. Adults with no English at all, or already at a high-intermediate level, are outside this program's scope. Assessment may instead lead to referral to another community resource. A lack of a match does not mean further learning is unavailable.
For accepted learners, the program looks for a partner to meet at the local library for two to three hours weekly, with a six-month commitment. Matching can take several months. Ask about the present wait and consider transport and time requirements. Free support is neither same-day availability nor a guaranteed educational qualification.
