Flávio Bolsonaro arrives in Miami with family after Brazil election defeat
Flávio Bolsonaro, the defeated Brazilian presidential candidate, arrived at Miami–Opa Locka Executive Airport on October 28 with his wife and two daughters, the Associated Press reported. The arrival followed the Trump administration’s announcement that it would provide the family with US visas.
Citing Argentina’s migration authority, AP reported that the family travelled from Brazil into Argentina, then took a private charter flight via Ecuador to the United States. Bolsonaro lost Sunday’s presidential runoff to incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. AP also reported that Brazil’s Supreme Court was investigating allegations against him and had ordered him to surrender his passports. Those allegations remain under investigation.
