In a separate California lawsuit, DOJ alleges that roughly 20,000 noncitizens appear on Los Angeles County’s rolls. That contested allegation is not a court-established count of illegal voters. The county’s election office told PBS that day that ballot processing was continuing while the litigation remained before the courts.
The program also explained Wednesday’s ruling: a California federal judge restricted certain DHS voter-eligibility field operations in nine states, delaying its effect until Friday to allow time for an appeal.
