The Bay Area Air District’s voluntary Vehicle Buy Back Program offers a $2,000 check when an approved dismantler buys and scraps a qualifying car or small truck from model year 2000 or earlier. It must operate, be currently registered as operable and have 24 months of operable registration in the Bay Area. A passing Smog Check is required when within 60 days of a required test.
Review all vehicle requirements, then book with an Air District-approved dismantler. Bring the title and 24 consecutive months of registration evidence; Pick-n-Pull requires original registration documents. Questions: 415-749-4994, option 1, or vehiclebuyback@baaqmd.gov.
