PBS interviews ProPublica reporter about U.S. citizens detained by immigration agents
PBS published an interview on October 21 between William Brangham and ProPublica reporter Nicole Foy about U.S. citizens detained by immigration agents. The segment is set against reports that Ricardo Gonzalez was detained and injured by federal officers, prompting California officials to call for an investigation.
ProPublica’s investigation, published October 6, documented more than 500 detained citizens. The figure is not a count of new detentions that day or a finding that every case was ruled unlawful. The investigation also records the Department of Homeland Security’s defense of its operations.
AI-assisted and editorially checked against PBS’s video title and description and the original ProPublica investigation’s date, scope and government response. This is a digest, not a video transcript.
