Ithaca Carshare Easy Access: check income, license eligibility and driving charges
Ithaca Carshare’s Easy Access plan serves Tompkins County residents with income at or below 150% of the federal poverty guideline. It costs $10 monthly plus $6 per hour and mileage: 42 cents per mile for cars, 44 for vans and 52 for trucks. A $20 monthly driving credit offsets time and mileage charges; unused credits roll over for up to one year. This is neither cash assistance nor unlimited driving for the membership fee.
A person is ineligible if they or a household member qualify for another school or employer membership discount. Places are limited. Start by sending income evidence directly to the organization, such as Medicaid/SNAP documentation, two recent pay stubs or a recent W-2, using info@ithacacarshare.org or P.O. Box 418, Ithaca, NY 14851. Staff then provide online-application instructions.
General membership requires age eighteen or older, at least two years with a full unrestricted license and driving-record approval. The $20 application fee is nonrefundable. Ages eighteen to twenty require a completely clean record and their own insurance documents, including at least $300,000 liability coverage per accident and policyholder consent. Additional restrictions apply at eighty and above. Recent foreign-license holders need official driving records; an International Driving Permit is insufficient. The page uses both two- and three-year lookback wording, so call 607-277-3210 to clarify required records before paying or assuming eligibility.
