Descanso Japanese Garden: community heritage and visitor planning
Descanso Gardens’ Japanese Garden opened in 1966 with participation from the Japanese American community. Its pond, paths and Japanese landscape elements offer a Southern California setting for exploring garden design.
The address is 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011. Published general visiting hours are daily 9 a.m.–5 p.m., and nonmembers must purchase general admission. Special events and individual facilities may have separate arrangements. Call 818-949-4200 before travelling to confirm accessible routes, parking or current path conditions.
