Santa Cruz Grey Bears: separate thrift shopping, donation and recycling hours
Grey Bears is at 2710 Chanticleer Avenue, Santa Cruz, telephone 831-479-1055. Thrift shopping runs daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but donations are separately listed from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Recycling closes at 3:30 p.m.; one department's closing time does not govern every service.
Clothing is limited to one thirty-gallon bag per customer daily, with underwear excluded. Large furniture acceptance depends on weather and storage. Email thrift@greybears.org or call extension 233 before transporting it, describing condition and quantity instead of arriving with an unapproved load.
The current exclusions include mattresses, child car seats, cribs, moldy goods and chemicals. Electronics and other recycling follow separate arrangements rather than making the thrift shop a general waste-drop site. This guide identifies real shopping and donation access, not a currently available furniture item or guaranteed acceptance. Sort reusable items from materials needing another disposal route before making the trip.
