Palo Alto adult ESL: register for winter placement testing at Greendell
Palo Alto Adult School offers state-supported ESL from literacy to advanced levels. Its no-fee policy covers tuition, registration and books for those ESL classes. New students first register for a placement test, then select an in-person or online class according to the arrangements. This does not mean every other adult-school course is free.
At the time checked, the next registration for Winter 2027 is Friday, December 4, 2026 at 9 a.m., in person at Greendell Campus, 4120 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto, CA 94303. The school explicitly excludes phone, email and online registration, and says there is no ESL placement-test registration at Palo Alto High School. Check the official page again before traveling.
Students must be at least 18, have their own valid email address and contact phone number, and be able to attend the full eight weeks. No childcare is provided for testing or classes. Questions can go to 650-494-2326 or esl@pausd.org; these inquiry channels do not replace in-person registration. The school also says ESL classes formerly at Cubberley have moved to Greendell, so confirm the location assigned to your class.
