收入下降後查 Medicare IRMAA：先分生活事件與修改報稅
收到 Medicare 收入相關附加保費 IRMAA 通知後，若目前收入因重大生活事件下降，可以向 Social Security 查詢重新釐定。這是附加保費覆核，不是重新申請 Medicare，也不是保證取消所有保費。

Medicare IRMAA after income falls: distinguish life events from amended tax returns
After receiving a Medicare income-related premium adjustment notice, a person whose income has fallen because of a qualifying life event can ask Social Security to reconsider IRMAA. This concerns an added premium, not a fresh Medicare application or a promise to remove all premiums.
Official examples include marriage, divorce, a spouse's death, stopping or reducing work and qualifying employer-settlement changes. Check the events and evidence specified in SSA-44, then organize the notice, event records and relevant income information. Use the online route linked by SSA, or follow instructions for mailing or faxing the form and supporting documents. Do not put a Social Security number or complete tax return in public forum comments.
An amended tax return is a different situation: SSA directs people to call 800-772-1213 rather than assume the life-event procedure applies unchanged. Keep submission records and the eventual decision. Continue to address bills or ask SSA for instructions; requesting reconsideration does not itself approve a lower premium.
