紐約 No-Fault 傷害索賠：先找對保險公司並保留書面通知

New York No-Fault injury claims: identify the insurer and document notice
After a New York traffic injury, a No-Fault notice generally goes to the insurer of the vehicle occupied by the injured person. A pedestrian normally contacts the insurer of the vehicle that struck them. Record the time, location, injured person and reasonably available circumstances, and retain proof of mailing or submission.
DFS calls for written notice as soon as reasonably practicable, generally within thirty days of the accident. A late-notice exception requires clear and reasonable written justification; acceptance should not be assumed. Medical bills and lost earnings have separate submission rules, so initial notice does not complete an entire claim.
If the striking vehicle is unknown or uninsured, check applicable coverage through a household relative before contacting MVAIC at 646-205-7800 when no household policy applies. Motorcycle drivers and passengers are excluded from ordinary No-Fault benefits, while pedestrians struck by motorcycles follow different routing. This guide identifies official procedures, not eligibility, legal fault or a compensation amount.
