SFMTA citation payment plans: income proof and the risk of reinstated penalties
SFMTA offers payment plans for eligible parking and transit citations. Standard enrollment costs $25; the low-income plan costs $5 per contract and requires photo ID plus income or benefit eligibility evidence. Its threshold is gross annual income at or below twice the federal poverty level; use the official household-size table.
Low-income enrollment removes late penalties, but they return if payment is not completed by the assigned deadline. Rental cars are excluded, and citations from failed plans cannot be re-enrolled. Apply online, by mail or at 11 South Van Ness Avenue with citation numbers ready. Language assistance: 311, or 415-701-2311 from outside San Francisco.
