New York MBI-WPD: checking Medicaid eligibility while working with a disability
New York’s Medicaid Buy-In Program for Working People with Disabilities serves state residents aged 16 through 64 who have paid work and meet disability criteria. Full-time or part-time work can qualify, subject to the program’s income and resource rules. People without an SSA disability determination may be evaluated through the state disability-review process.
Contact the local Department of Social Services and specifically ask about MBI-WPD; general Medicaid information is available at 800-541-2831. Discuss coordination with any existing employer insurance before cancelling coverage.
