DMV distinguishes revived junk from revived salvage vehicles. A qualifying rebuilt vehicle receives a branded title, so the process does not erase its history. A revived salvage application generally needs the owner's signed REG 343, ownership evidence, REG 31 verification or CHP 97C inspection, an electronic Vehicle Safety Systems Inspection certificate and fees. Smog certification, weight evidence and additional forms may also be necessary. Follow the checklist for the particular vehicle rather than assuming a repair invoice is enough.
