The official guidance calls for a first primary-care assessment within the first four months, or 120 days, of membership. It helps establish medical history, current medicines and follow-up needs. The visit includes a history and physical examination, with other screening guided by age and health background. It does not mean every person receives the same tests. Prepare an insurance card, medication list and questions, and confirm the assigned clinician and clinic location before travelling. AltaMed lists 888-499-9303 for appointments. People using an affiliated provider rather than an AltaMed clinic are directed to the number on their health-plan card. Ask separately about interpretation, paperwork and possible charges.
