Ask your local CHP office about a check If you are unsure how a child's car seat is installed or secured, the California Highway Patrol advises contacting your local CHP Area Office and asking for a child passenger safety technician. This provides a route to practical help. A product rating, online photograph or general article cannot confirm that a particular seat fits a particular vehicle correctly. When arranging a visit, describe the vehicle, seat model and child's seating needs. Ask which manuals to bring, whether the child should attend, and where and when the check takes place. Arrangements must be confirmed with the local office; this guide does not promise walk-in availability or a free replacement seat. Check the manufacturer's limits and current requirements, and have the technician address questions about the actual equipment.
