Official examples include unexpected family illness or a supervisor’s unexpected request to stay late that prevents the usual journey home. Employee participants must be at least 18. Solo driving, motorcycles and single-passenger ridehailing to work are not qualifying commutes; trips to work are also excluded. Pay first, retain the receipt and claim within 30 days. Up to six trips per calendar year may be reimbursed: the first two at 100%, capped at $150 each; the other four at 75%, capped at $100 each. Tips are excluded. Claims require verification and available funding. Free preregistration is recommended; the full terms permit one preregistration trip claimed within 30 days.
